The
Thousand Pulsar Array

About the TPA: History, Mission, sources, data products
The team: Who we are
data releases and guides
TPA PUblications
The Thousand Pulsar Array began as one of the major science themes of MeerTime, the MeerKAT Large Survey Project devoted to pulsar timing and pulsar astrophysics. MeerTime as a MeerKAT project has now concluded. The Thousand Pulsar Array continues independently as a MeerKAT eXtremely Large Project, carrying forward the legacy of MeerTime while defining its own scientific direction, observing strategy, data releases, and community role.

The Thousand Pulsar Array is MeerTime’s large-scale programme to observe and characterise more than a thousand radio pulsars with the MeerKAT telescope. By combining MeerKAT’s sensitivity, wide bandwidth, and tied-array observing capability, TPA is building a homogeneous legacy data set for pulsar astrophysics. The programme targets high-fidelity pulse profiles, multi-epoch timing, and single-pulse observations across a large pulsar population. Its science spans a large range of topics, including pulsar emission physics, magnetospheric structure, neutron-star interiors, glitches, pulse-profile evolution, scintillation, interstellar-medium studies, and the Galactic magnetic field.
TPA data products include folded profiles, timing measurements, dispersion and rotation-measure time series, flux-density spectra, and single-pulse data products. Public releases accompany major science papers and are intended to support broad community use.
